Fetal Consultations

Detailed consultations with the expecting couple can help solve so many queries in the right and best way, especially when there is any deviation from normalcy on scans or blood tests. Genetic testing needs pre and post test counselling for complete and easy understanding. A consultation with Fetal Medicjne specialist helps u much more than the Google gyan .. trust us 😊

Ultrasound Scans

Seeing ur baby for the first time through ultrasound can be fascinating.. isn’t it ! Scanning the unborn baby - fetus through ultrasound is done to examine and ascertain normality and diagnose any abnormality if present. Minimum of 3-4 scans are usually done from the start of pregnancy throughout its course. Sometimes more number of scans are needed to monitor the growth in special cases. However, ultrasound is safe in pregnancy when it is done for the right indicated reasons. The early pregnancy scan confirms the pregnancy. The NT scan screens for chromosomal and anatomical abnormalities. Mid trimester anomaly scan screens the fetal anatomy in detail to to rule out anomalies. Growth and Doppler study determines the estimated Fetal weight, liquor and movements. 3D/4D scans are the new additional fascinating features.

Fetal Diagnostic Tests

When there is a suspicion / high risk of chromosomal or genetic abnormality; a diagnostic test is recommended. These tests include chorion villous biopsy (CVS) , amniocentesis, cord blood sampling. These procedures enable us to take fetal sample for further testing in the laboratory to arrive at a definitive diagnosis of any abnormality seen on scan.

Fetal Therapeutic Interventions

Thanks to the newer innovations in technology as well as expertise, we can help the fetuses by offering a few therapeutic procedures. For example Fetal blood transfusions to anemic fetuses, laser or radiofrequency ablation for complications related to twin or triplet pregnancies. Fetal therapy is a wonder of the newer generation which empowers us to give every life a fair chance of survival in case of complications in utero.
